Magical Moment 474, "Meant To Be"

Sometimes I see, or hear of a moment between couples and immediately know that those 2 are "meant to be." Here are just a few examples.

-My dad's name is Ricky after the 50's singer Ricky Nelson. Ricky Nelson sings a famous song called "Hello Mary Lou." In the song he sings about her "big brown eyes." My dad married a woman named Mary Louise, with big brown eyes. You can't make that up.

-I have a friend who is notorious for his corny jokes and ill-timed humor. The first time I met his wife, she told a story and in the middle paused and looked at her husband, "I know you want to make a joke here, so go ahead." He cracked the not-so-funny joke, and then she proceeded with her story. That's when I knew they were perfect for each other. She let him be just what he is and loved him for it.

-My Grandpa used to select one rose from his garden every season to bring to my Grandma. His explanation was, "One rose means one true love."
When he passed away, my Grandma laid a single rose in his coffin for her one true love.

-When Eddie and I first began dating, I once checked his voice mail on his cell phone for him. There was one saved messaged and when I listened to it, it was my voice! Months ago, loooong before our relationship began, I left him a work-related voice mail about a meeting the next day, and he never deleted it. Smiling and flattered, I asked why he still had that message. He just replied that he could never bring himself to delete my voice, even before the thought of us being "together" occurred to him.

I know you must have seen or experienced these kinds of moments as well. Share them below if you like. :)

Dawn and Linda,
Somehow I deleted both of your comments!!! Not sure what happened but thank you both for leaving one today. I need to figure out what I did. Oops.

Just a couple of days ago, I held the phone up to my computer mic to record the messages I want to keep.

(Bracing for delete!) ;)
I love these stories of true Love! Eddie keeping your voice and your Grandmothers rose :) I married hubs and his brother married my sister? Not sure that qualifies as a true love story but it is nice to have the same in-laws for almost 30 years....

Catching up, and I don't usually make comments. But this one begs to be shared. Once, while underway in the Middle East, I was able to make a phone call to Christianna back home in VA. Out of the blue, I said to her, "I know this might sound odd, but don't burn the toast." As I finished my sentence, she told me the toast had just popped up....
Thousands of miles, and somehow I knew.. Now, whenever we have to be seperate, we make sure to tell one another "not to burn the toast", referring to the amazing connection we have.

Magical Moment 620, "Lilac Garden"

Eddie and I visited the Lilac Gardens at Ringwood Manor in New Jersey, a pristine and beautiful state park with 8 species of lilacs and several varieties within. We went on a rainy afternoon, which turned out perfect because the rain stopped for us when we got there, and began again as soon as we left. It also decorated the plants with gorgeous rain drops, adding to their beauty.  And now for a quick game of "Where's Elizabeth?" And "Where's Eddie?" ~~Have a great weekend! ~~

Magical Moment 625, "Thailand - the Elephants"

Needless to say, my favorite part of our Thailand vacation, was our week long volunteering at  Elephant Nature Park ! The logging industry was banned in Thailand in 1989, leaving thousands of elephants unemployed. These elephants are now used for tourism. You may have heard of elephant shows featuring the animals playing soccer or painting pictures with their trunks. They are no doubt amazing to watch, but the sad truth is that these elephants have gone through a series of torture and abuse to "break their spirit" by their trainers. This short clip is very hard to watch, but it will give you an idea of what the elephants in captivity in the country of Thailand go through. The only elephants in Thailand who do  not  endure this, are the very few baby elephants who are first generation born in "safe captivity" at places like Elephant Nature Park. Every other elephant at this park has been brutally abused. Some have been blinded by their owners, le...

Magical Moment 613, "Monstera Deliciosa"

First of all, congrats to Jayne from  Suburban Soliloquy   for winning the CD give-away! And thank you to all who entered! ~~~ There are always discoveries to be made at Thomas Edison National Park, where my husband is a Park Ranger. My favorite building on the property however, is the old Greenhouse, which is kept up by a local volunteer garden club.  In just 7 years, they've re-created the original beauty as it was years ago in Thomas Edison's Day.  There are plants from all over the world, cultivated and cared for, with the patience that only a true gardener can possess. I am no gardener, and I've never had a green thumb. But the Greenhouse is so special to me, that I wanted to offer what I could to help out. There is much to be learned in the world of gardening! The newest discovery I learned of, is a plant called Monstera Deliciosa. It's a tropical plant that can grow up to 20 meters high and produces a muy deliciosa fruit. One of these fruits fe...
