Magical Moment 335, "Accepted"

When I checked the mail today, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. Months ago, I took the LSAT and applied to several Law Schools and have been waiting for a letter, any letter, to let me know the outcome.

The decision to take the LSAT was one of careful thought and enormous commitment. I studied for hours a day, driving myself to near insanity with practice tests, and still inwardly scolding myself for not studying even more. The test day was agony. I was literally physically ill with anxiety. The night before, I got no sleep at all, and the day of the test, I was light headed and shaky. I was absolutely terrified that all my hours of study would be for nothing, and I had to wait a dreadful 3 weeks to find out for sure. To my relief, my score was reasonable, not quite what I hoped for, but enough. I gathered everything needed to apply to Law School, and submitted all requirements to 3 law schools. After that, I put the matter out of my mind. I had done all I could, and to the best of my ability. I vowed I would not give it another thought or worry until I saw a professional-looking letter in the mail from one of those 3 schools. Today was that day.

It was from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center on Long Island. I looked at the manila envelope for a moment, wondering if I should wait til Eddie gets home. I didn't know if I could bear a rejection by myself. But I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything else until I read it. That's when I began tearing into it like a kid on Christmas morning - only for this kid, the surprise was either a brand new bike, or a lump of coal and I was equally terrified and excited at the prospect of finding out which. It was a bike. A shiny, beautiful, new bike. I shocked myself when I discovered I had small tears of relief and joy in my eyes. All that work, all that commitment, had paid off after all.

I still don't know what the future holds for me. For some reason, God has seen fit to place an overwhelming load of ambitions, passions, goals, and desires in my heart, and yet I know I'm only human and cannot do them all. I am grateful beyond words for this opportunity and I prayerfully await guidance for the next step in my future

A BIG Congratulations to YOU! Your hard work has paid off, and will continue. 2011 should be very exciting and "magical." I hope you will continue your blog as you plow through those law books.

Best wishes for a peaceful and fulfillng new year.
You have the ability to condemn the wretched, who are not humane, especially those who torture others - and take pleasure in it aswell! Gruesome! You see it so much in Africa, where the vulnerable are picked on, raped, violated and made into sex slaves at such an early age - makes I shudder at such contempt to the value of life!

Sorry to be morbid, but we have sex slaves here in Britain, who are locked up in brothels, and on many cases its the aristocracy and government officials visiting these wretched places of disgust!

Thank you. Love love, Andru. CRY>,<

Magical Moment 620, "Lilac Garden"

Eddie and I visited the Lilac Gardens at Ringwood Manor in New Jersey, a pristine and beautiful state park with 8 species of lilacs and several varieties within. We went on a rainy afternoon, which turned out perfect because the rain stopped for us when we got there, and began again as soon as we left. It also decorated the plants with gorgeous rain drops, adding to their beauty.  And now for a quick game of "Where's Elizabeth?" And "Where's Eddie?" ~~Have a great weekend! ~~

Magical Moment 625, "Thailand - the Elephants"

Needless to say, my favorite part of our Thailand vacation, was our week long volunteering at  Elephant Nature Park ! The logging industry was banned in Thailand in 1989, leaving thousands of elephants unemployed. These elephants are now used for tourism. You may have heard of elephant shows featuring the animals playing soccer or painting pictures with their trunks. They are no doubt amazing to watch, but the sad truth is that these elephants have gone through a series of torture and abuse to "break their spirit" by their trainers. This short clip is very hard to watch, but it will give you an idea of what the elephants in captivity in the country of Thailand go through. The only elephants in Thailand who do  not  endure this, are the very few baby elephants who are first generation born in "safe captivity" at places like Elephant Nature Park. Every other elephant at this park has been brutally abused. Some have been blinded by their owners, le

Magical Moment 606, "Thank You Canada!"

After an intense week as a participant in the  Musician's Mentorship Program  with Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto, I am back in the good ol' US of A. The trip was a success, not only did I learn a TON in the program, but I got to see Canada for the first time, increasing my number of countries visited to 3! (Mexico and South Korea, if you're wondering about the other 2). I was surrounded by incredibly talented musicians who didn't hesitate to dish out their best advice, tips, and secrets to me. In addition, I was surrounded by some beautiful scenery and amazing sights. The trip got even better when Eddie flew out to meet me half way through the week, and even BETTER when I was able to meet up with a friend, known only through the blogosphere until now. Yes ladies and gentlemen,  Hilary of The Smitten Image  herself happens to live only minutes from where I resided in Toronto. I admit, it was a little like meeting a celebrity. I first "met" Hi
