Magical Moment 494, "There'll Always Be Another"

You know that saying, "A day late and a dollar short?" That describes how I feel most of the time. Whether I'm running late for work because I'm stuck in nightmare traffic somewhere in northern New Jersey, or because paying gigs are far and few between, I always feel like I'm running to catch up. And I like to run. But the thing is, if you do a lot of it, you get tired.

One stressful day, I found myself scurrying to the corner bus in heels, to catch the 164 into the city for a music session. It was hot. I didn't have a phone number to call and say I was behind. And every thing was compounded by the expected scrutiny that comes with being a musician. The job ended up fine. They were late too. It was easy, fun. Worried for nothing.

The stress in my shoulders relaxed a little as I headed for thePort Authority bus terminal to go back home. I leaned against the wall of the escalator, closing my eyes for a moment. When I opened them, I saw that my bus had just completed loading passengers and was about to depart. I once again raced for the closing doors and made it just in the nick of time. I took my seat next to a gentlemen who offered me an unsolicited piece of advise. And I was stunned at its obvious, applicable truth. "You know what I say? Never run for a bus. There'll always be another."

Ah yes, do not worry - for who can add a minute to their lives by worrying and creating stress for themselves (a bit of a paraphrase of a text we'd all do well to remember).

Wise gentleman you encountered.

Magical Moment 620, "Lilac Garden"

Eddie and I visited the Lilac Gardens at Ringwood Manor in New Jersey, a pristine and beautiful state park with 8 species of lilacs and several varieties within. We went on a rainy afternoon, which turned out perfect because the rain stopped for us when we got there, and began again as soon as we left. It also decorated the plants with gorgeous rain drops, adding to their beauty.

And now for a quick game of "Where's Elizabeth?"
And "Where's Eddie?"

Magical Moment 634, "Old Toy Trains"

Hello my blogosphere friends! I would like to wish you all a very happy New Year!
I would also like to share with you a video that I made over the Holidays so that you can catch up with my sweet Sprout and happy Jay Bird. Sprout will turn 3 in February and Jay Bird just passed 18 months! We are very happy in Atlanta and have recently settled into a new home. I'm truly wishing you all happiness, peace, and joy. This may be difficult to do at times, but it is certainly made easier surrounded by loved ones.

Peace my friends!
Love, Beth, Eddie, Sprout, and Jay Bird (Ricky and Elan)

Magical Moment 420, "The Critter Awards"

I'm nearly 28 and I still love to go to the zoo - even with no nieces or nephews to use as an excuse. I went to the Turtle Back Zoo in NJ with Eddie today. It was cold and rainy, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to have fun snapping photos of my favorite critters.
The Happiest Critter award goes to: Cassie the Sea Otter This is Cassie's first nomination as she is a new addition to the zoo. She thanks her parents for making her so cute, and the zoo keepers for feeding her and keeping her energy up to entertain the guests.
The Most Hypnotizing Critter award goes to: The Sea Horse The Sea Horse was also nominated for Brightest Critter.
The Brightest Critter award goes to: The Blue Fish The Blue Fish and the Sea Horse are considered rivals in many aspects, but personally maintain a good friendship. "We work together in our goal to inspire awe in our spectators," said the Blue Fish.
The Best Dressed Critter award goes to: The Peacock The Peacock has won this award sever…
