Magical Moment 578, "Blue Hair"

Well, I dyed my hair blue today.
Not kidding.
Not exaggerating.
Not on purpose.
Not blue in a "certain light."
Blue. Blue like the sky. Blue like my mood when I didn't have time to fix it before I went to work. It was supposed to be a light, golden attempt at saving money was to use a box instead of a professional.

Recently, I've started to imagine that dreaded day when I look in the mirror and discover my first gray hair. Well, whatever trauma gray hair may cause in the future, it cannot be worse than blue hair now.

Wishing that baseball caps were appropriate work attire, I went to work, avoiding eye contact with everyone. Wouldn't this be the day when the outspoken boy with dreadlocks came to class?
"Hey!" he called when he saw me sitting behind the piano, "Your hair's not red any more!"

Definitely not red.

There was an awkward pause. That moment when the person who notices the change is supposed to say, "Looks nice" came...and went.

First thing tomorrow will be a trip to a real hair salon. I guess I'm not mean to know if blondes really do have more fun. But I can tell you one for thing for certain, blue-heads do not!

Embarrassing moments are a hobby of mine:

Ha! I'm with Eddie. :)

Are you a fan of the "Anne of Green Gables" series? There's a scene in there where Anne tries to die her hair, and it turns green. I couldn't help thinking of that scene as I read your post.

I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. But I know you'll feel better after professionals work their magic.
Fine ya'll! Here's a picture of the hair!

Texwisgirl, Maybe if I was 20 I could rock it...Lol.

Linda, I love Anne and that scene is hilarious! :)

Oh. Funny.
(And I'm trying not to laugh... I seem to have crazy adventures with hair color too. But I think I like the sound of blue best of all:D)

That's not a picture! I'm sure you can do better than that... I'm sure you would love all of your blog reades to give their honest opinions on the change - just like the outspoken boy with the dreadlocks.
OH MY! Bowie has that song from the 70s with lines like "blue blue electric blue, blue is the color of my...."
Dawn, I've accidently dyed my hair many colors, but this was a first. :)

Robin, that's the only picture I snapped with my cell phone before I tried to fix it myself. It's now an insane red color! Lol!

Oh....well in my opinion you have not lived a full life until you have accidentally colored your hair a BAD color. {I've had shades of green!}
Best of luck getting this fixed.
I am sure you STILL look adorable!

Birdie stole my line: your very first less than magical moment!!!

You can't think blue is any worse that pink, or purple or green? I've seen it all... well maybe not blue hair on Elizabeth. Don't fret you'll be back to normal soon enough!
You could look great in blue! I have that dreaded day of gray and I do the cheap dye too. It is a pain!

Magical Moment 620, "Lilac Garden"

Eddie and I visited the Lilac Gardens at Ringwood Manor in New Jersey, a pristine and beautiful state park with 8 species of lilacs and several varieties within. We went on a rainy afternoon, which turned out perfect because the rain stopped for us when we got there, and began again as soon as we left. It also decorated the plants with gorgeous rain drops, adding to their beauty.

And now for a quick game of "Where's Elizabeth?"
And "Where's Eddie?"
~~Have a great weekend! ~~

Magical Moment 420, "The Critter Awards"

I'm nearly 28 and I still love to go to the zoo - even with no nieces or nephews to use as an excuse. I went to the Turtle Back Zoo in NJ with Eddie today. It was cold and rainy, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to have fun snapping photos of my favorite critters.
The Happiest Critter award goes to: Cassie the Sea Otter This is Cassie's first nomination as she is a new addition to the zoo. She thanks her parents for making her so cute, and the zoo keepers for feeding her and keeping her energy up to entertain the guests.
The Most Hypnotizing Critter award goes to: The Sea Horse The Sea Horse was also nominated for Brightest Critter.
The Brightest Critter award goes to: The Blue Fish The Blue Fish and the Sea Horse are considered rivals in many aspects, but personally maintain a good friendship. "We work together in our goal to inspire awe in our spectators," said the Blue Fish.
The Best Dressed Critter award goes to: The Peacock The Peacock has won this award sever…

Magical Moment 611, "Great is Your Reward"

Certain sounds and smells can bring to mind a long forgotten memory. For me, certain Bible verses can conjure up a memory, long, but not so forgotten.
If you grew up like me, in a private Christian school, attending Sunday School, Awanas, and Vacation Bible School regularly, you're an expert at quoting Scripture. I laugh in the face of Bible "Sword Drill." I can find a Scripture reference in 3 seconds or less. When other's have to think to themselves the sequential order, "Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians..." I'm already at I Thessalonians. It's like growing up bi-lingual. The skill is just there.
This morning, I read the first 3 words of a verse, and then finished it quickly by memory. Like the pledge of allegiance, it was automatic. "Trust in the Lord...
...With all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."  Proverbs 3:5-6
When I finished, I smiled to myself slightl…
